Commercialization Lead,
ARPA-H Program

As our foundational public-private partnership, the Commons has partnered with Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), a US government agency that provides research funding to support transformative biomedical and health breakthroughs—ranging from the molecular to the societal—to provide health solutions for all. Equipped with $2.5 billion in federal dollars, ARPA-H is funding the research and development of new ways to tackle the hardest problems in health, including cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease. Digitalis Commons will harness its extensive technical, translational, and business expertise and network to expedite the transition of groundbreaking discoveries from the lab to the real world.

We are seeking a Commercialization Lead to join our team on the ARPA-H partnership. In this role, you will use your business skills to advance multiple early-stage health technologies from concept to an investment-ready state. Serving as a direct partner to multiple ARPA-H program managers, you will identify and manage a commercialization strategy designed to ensure that the program aligns with market needs and is developed in a manner that supports a viable product. As a founding member of our team, you will actively contribute to the development of our operational strategy for this program and for the Commons at large.

Responsibilities
• Work with multiple ARPA-H program managers, serving as primary-point-of-contact, to provide business strategy and commercialization activities for each 3-year ARPA-H program
• Manage the development of a work plan for each program to address commercialization service needs. Services may include technical feasibility or market assessments, end user assessments, regulatory or intellectual property planning, technical prototyping, engagement of executives-in-residence, business planning and/or venture-backed fund raising
• Manage execution of required services via a suite of service vendors, sourced through the Digitalis network.
• Manage service vendors including working with the operations team to ensure vendor contracting and payment is aligned with work outputs.
• In some cases where services align with your expertise and interests, directly perform services.
• Support iterative development of work strategies to enable our team to scale across the growing portfolio of projects and people
• Contribute to special projects that help develop our internal capabilities and program offerings
• Learn by doing - use an agile framework to improve our processes to maximize success and efficiencies of our work.

qualifications
• Advanced degree in relevant technical field or business with 6+ years experience in commercialization, tech transfer or corporate strategy.
• Understanding of commercialization and corporate strategy activities.
• Project management skills including ability to manage work across multiple competing priorities and to clearly organize and oversee workstreams
• Proactive communicator
• Ability to guide multi-disciplinary teams to execute on joint projects.
• Ability to translate program goals into project requirements.

Compensation & Benefits
• Expected annual base pay of $170,000 to $210,000 (pay may vary based on experience or other relevant factors).

Senior Portfolio Manager,

We are seeking a portfolio manager to join our ARPA-H program team. In this role, you will lead the oversight and central coordination for all services provided to ARPA-H. Anticipating that our team will grow as ARPA-H grows, this role provides an opportunity to design management strategies in a start-up setting that will scale to support services deployed simultaneously across hundreds of programs.

Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain a system for organizing, tracking, documenting, and reporting on our services for this client.
• Serve as central point-person for all inbound client requests, guiding these to the appropriate internal staff member and tracking work progress.
• Organizes and allocate internal resources including staff, consultants, and written content.
• Plan, track, and manage ARPA-H portfolio with risk management practice to align with respective strategies and goals.
• Develops metrics-based scorecards to monitor progress against critical factors and report these on a regular cadence to internal and client stakeholders.
• Ensure regular portfolio updates via program management dashboards and reports, risk management, etc.,
• Lead continuous process gap identification and improvement initiatives - ensuring our systems remain viable as the program scales and evolves (e.g., SOP, working instruction, template, and other guidance document development)
• Lead or support the establishment and management of program governance processes
• Lead or support planning efforts related to program-specific meetings and facilitating effective discussion, alignment and decision making as needed
• Interface well with project teams, client, collaborators and vendors to foster alignment, progress, and quality delivery of projects
• Leads programs, takes the initiative to drive them, and can step in and coach external/internal project managers to ensure resolution of issues as needed.
• Defines the project management process, standards, deliverables, and operational cadence necessary to ensure consistent project execution.
• Manages and balances project team members’ workloads and assignments and determines when external project management resources are necessary to meet program commitments.

qualifications
• BS in a business or technical field; or related areas or equivalent experience. MS or advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in project / portfolio management.
• Experience with management of client-facing team-based programs.
• PMP Certification is desirable, but not required.
• Health and / or life science research experience is desirable, but not required.

• Expected annual base pay of $150,000 to $225,000

Administrative Assistant

We are seeking an administrative assistant to join our team. In this role, you will use your coordination and management skills to ensure our staff and services are maximally deployed to meet our work goals and to address the needs of our client.

Responsibilities
• Take ownership for administrative tasks and ensure they are complete accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner
• Maintain internal databases of consultants and contract analysts to enable rapid deployment and communication
• Manage client requests for standard market reports to ensure work is delivered quickly and is of high quality
• Extensive calendar management and scheduling of meetings, conference calls, and travel arrangements
• Event coordination for client visits
• Management and tracking of expense reimbursements.
• Manage deliverable reporting to client
• Ensure contracts are up-to-date, invoices are accurate, and deliverables are collected.
• Utilizing Microsoft Office and Google Suite to perform administrative tasks and manage communication effectively
• Ad hoc projects and duties as needed.

qualifications
• Candidate should have 1-3 years of previous experience supporting multiple professionals, including ability to keep team members on track with processes, policies and deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Must have exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Must have strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize activities and work under pressure to meet client deadline expectations in a fast-paced environment
• The successful candidate will be someone with strong initiative and who is self-motivated and interested in taking ownership of the work and loves working as part of a team
• This position will have extensive contact with others (including clients) requiring discretion and will need to maintain a professional and courteous manner when dealing with others
• BA Degree highly preferred

Compensation & Benefits
• Expected annual base pay of $70,000 to $110,000
