Ramon Felciano

Dr. Ramon M. Felciano is a founder, company builder, technology leader, and advocate for innovation in patient and planetary health. With over two decades in life sciences, drug discovery, and digital health, he leads Digital Alchemy, a consultancy dedicated to nurturing startups, guiding emerging leaders, and advising investors, universities, biopharma and healthcare organizations in effective use of AI, data strategy, and lean innovation.

Previously, Dr. Felciano served as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Data Strategy at QIAGEN N.V., where he founded QIAGEN Digital Insights (QDI), the company’s AI and Data Sciences business unit. He spearheaded the company’s expansion into digital markets, leading portfolio strategy, thought leadership, and acquisition strategy for informatics and digital biology. Notably, his work included developing an innovative AI-based precision medicine platform that guided the care of over 1 million patients within five years, enabling QIAGEN’s entry into the real-world evidence market. QDI established QIAGEN as a market leader in informatics, recognized as one of the company’s “crown jewels” by JP Morgan.

Before QIAGEN, Dr. Felciano founded Ingenuity, an early industry leader in AI-driven genome interpretation, precision medicine, and systems biology. Ingenuity’s award-winning products, commercial success, and data-driven approach to drug discovery included groundbreaking pandemic response research with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. QIAGEN’s acquisition of Ingenuity in 2013 underscored its strategic role in ushering in the era of data-driven biology, and underpinned QIAGEN’s expansion into the informatics market.

Dr. Felciano holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Biomedical Data Sciences, a B.S. in Computer Science, and a B.A. in English and French Literature from Stanford University.
